Whether they make a sequel or not, Doom does entertain, and it leaves the ending open for more fun and doom. Unfortunately, this only lasts a few minutes of the film. The sfx are good, especially the much anticipated FPS style. The supporting cast comes off as a "wish we could've gotten Actor A but instead got B". The Rock does a fine job of an alpha-male, cocky Marine with swagger. Space Marines are sent to investigate strange events at a research facility on Mars but find themselves at the mercy of genetically enhanced killing machines. A team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge, is sent to a science facility on Mars. They soon realize that the research facility is doing more than an archaeological dig, and that the scientists aren't missing - they're transformed. Sarge (The Rock) is the leader of a Marines unit which is sent to research facility on Mars to investigate missing scientists. Where it does succeed is when it tries to entertain and reference the game (many here) in a tongue-in-cheek fashion, rather than try and elevate the plot to a social commentary. In the film, marines are sent on a rescue mission to a facility on Mars, where they encounter demonic-like. Loosely based on the video game series of the same name by id Software, the film stars Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Razaaq Adoti, and Dwayne Johnson (credited as The Rock). Doom 2005 METASCORE Generally unfavorable reviews based on 28 Critic Reviews See All 34 USER SCORE Mixed or average reviews based on 307 Ratings See All 5. While a bit more plot and less polish than Ultraviolet, Doom entertains but fails to reach the balance of action/plot as found in Resident Evil. Doom is a 2005 science fiction film directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak. I mean it could have been better, but The Rock was pretty cool in the film, as was the rest of the cast. As a fan of both Ultraviolet and the Resident Evil Series, this film falls nicely in between. Doom (2005) film adaptation is very underrated.
